Brilliant interactive advert

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

When done well, interactive advertising on the web is a wonderful thing. But, too often, it’s not. I talked last week about the Old Spice advert which has spawned a series of social media spin offs, well this new advert from Tippex ticks the social media and interactive boxes.

Give it a whirl… you won’t regret it.

Sometimes simple really is best.

With thanks to my mate Chris Woolford of I Concur for the heads-up.

LOVE this advert

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

One of the great things about keeping in touch with American culture via my favourite podcasts is that I get to hear about things like this – which I doubt will ever reach the UK.

The advert’s caused a minor sensation and has been supported by a fantastic and well-thought out social media campaign. More than on that later.

In the meantime… enjoy :-)

Twitter recruitment video

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Now this is how to make a recruitment video.

Those crazy guys and gals at Twitter have taken some inspiration from geek classic Rushmore to create the video you see below. Nice.

England goalkeeper offers me technical support

Ring, ring.

“Hello, Ross Brown.”

Pause. Static. Click.

<thick foreign accent> “Hello, is that Mr Brown?”

In a 50s galaxy far, far away…

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Some people have fantastic ideas and far, far too much time on their hands.

Well, have you ever wondered what the Star Wars saga would have been like had it been a 1950s B movie or Saturday morning serial (in the style of Flash Gordon and the like) ? No, me neither if I’m honest – but the results are fantastic.

If you click through to the YouTube page yourself, there’s a whole world of these so-called “pre-makes”: some are better than others!

Many thanks to Ian Green for the heads-up.

Turn to the dark side… 3rd exit.

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Pure genius – both as a saleable item and a viral marketing campaign.

Well, I’m proving the power of the latter with the YouTube video below… and if I had a Tom Tom I would definitely be buying this: turn by turn directions from the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader.

Ok, you have to squint a bit… but there’s definitely something there.
