Album of the month: Revolver: Track 5

(I’d better get my skates on if I’m going to cover all 14 songs by the end of the month!)

Right, it’s so sickly sweet that listening to it three times in a row could induce a diabetic coma but it is nice: “Here, There and Everywhere” is one of McCartney’s prettiest love songs.

Even Lennon liked it, telling Playboy in 1980 that it was “one of my favourite songs of the Beatles.”

He wasn’t alone in being a fan, it’s one of the most-covered Beatles songs, with Wikipedia listing versions by Petula Clark, Perry Como, John Denver, Céline Dion, Jose Feliciano and The Flying Pickets amongst many others.

And, by way of “added extras”, here’s the sublime Emmylou Harris singing it too. Class. Heavily pregnant too I’m guessing.
