1952 Vincent Black Lightning

There were two main reasons why I made the blog the main focus of my web site: to allow me to keep the content fresh and to demonstrate there was more to me than “geekiness”.

With apologies to those people visiting purely for the marketing/technical/geeky posts… I’ve got the music in me and I’d like to share. It might not be to everybody’s tastes but, for me, it’s a great song by one of the heroes of “modern” English folk.

Since he first stated performing with Fairport Convention in 1969, Richard Thompson has carved his own very distinctive niche in the music world, flirting with both rock and folk as the mood has taken him. And “1952 Vincent Black Lightning” is one of his finest moments.

A folk song in its purest sense, it tells a wonderful story in its five minutes, covering love, death and classic motorbikes. And has some fantastic guitar playing.

Geekiness will follow next week. Promise.
